I Will Prioritise Your Welfare, Protect Your Rights — Tinubu Tells Nigerian Women On International Women’s Day

As Nigeria joins the rest of the world to celebrate 2024 International Women’s Day, President Bola Tinubu has hailed Nigerian women as the bedrock of the nation’s progress.

Tinubu, in a statement shared on his X page on Friday, acknowledged the indispensable role of women in the country’s development.

The president highlighted their resilience, strength, and outstanding achievements across various fields.

The statement read, “On this year’s International Women’s Day, I celebrate all Nigerian women. They are the pivot of our nation.

“The indispensable role of women in building our dear nation, Nigeria, must always be emphasized because they have been elemental to our nation’s development, growth, and greatness.

“In every discipline and field of human endeavor, the standout achievements of Nigerian women have become a testament to the resilience, strength, courage, and ingenuity of women worldwide, as well as a mark of their exceptional quality as emissaries of hope and possibilities.”

He said, “The theme of this year’s International Women’s Day, ‘Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress’, aligns perfectly with my administration’s policy initiatives on educating and empowering women, as can be seen from their inclusion in governance in my administration—ensuring that they remain relevant and unimpeachable voices in the development process across all sectors of the economy.

“My administration is also focused on investing in the education of the girl child and fostering inclusive programs and initiatives that bolster their active roles in areas of knowledge, science, technology, research, and innovation into the future.”

Tinubu reassured Nigerian women of the administration’s commitment to prioritizing their welfare, protecting their rights, and championing their causes, which are hallmarks of his pledge on International Women’s Day.
