A former director general of the Imo Broadcasting Corporation, Mr Theophilus Okere stabbed his wife of 50years Mrs Beatrice to death at Imerienwe community in the Ngor-Okpala Local Government Area of Imo state on monday.
According to a source in Imerienwe, Mr Theophilus has been suffering from dementia which affects the memory,language and other thinking abilities.The source who pleaded to remain annonymous said the family had been managing the problem
The source went on further to give instances on the effect of the problem on Mr Theophilus, he said:
”The other sunday ,Mr Okere went to church and said that his car was missing when in fact the car was parked in his compound”
”When he was asked why he stabbede his wife to death , he said she was still sleeping”
Mrs Beatrice was aged 77 and a retiree of the Imo State Polytechnic, Umuagwo.
