Joe Ajaero, President Of The Nigeria Labour Congress, Criticizes The Federal Government Over Workers’ Rights

Joe Ajaero, President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, has strongly criticized the federal government’s efforts to stop workers from leaving the country to find better jobs abroad. Ajaero said that workers shouldn’t have to stay in Nigeria without getting paid enough, calling it “another form of slavery.”

In Abuja, Ajaero said these things during a speech at the 8th Quadrennial Delegates’ Conference of the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives. He praised the leadership of NANNM for the excellent way they handled the problem of the closed certificate verification portal, which was meant to make it harder for nurses and midwives to find better jobs abroad.

Ajaero stressed how important it was for workers to work together to fight the forces that were taking advantage of them. He told workers to stick together and fight for their rights, stressing how important it is to be united during tough economic times.

The country’s economic problems include higher power rates, high gas prices, a lack of food, bad working conditions, and low wages. To fix these problems, Ajaero called for a review of wages and the restarting of public refineries.

Michael Nnachi, who is the national president of NANNM, told leaders to put unity and selfless service first. Nnachi thanked the people who were leaving office and stressed the importance of holding polls that are peaceful, fair, and trustworthy.

Nigerians have been told not to buy petrol in a hurry. Ten people died when a building in Ibadan fell down. Oil companies have changed the price of gasoline across the country. Spain is working quickly to help people who have been hurt by the floods that killed 95. On Black Friday, Xiaomi is giving people a chance to win a ₦6M Xiaomi-branded family pack.

Ajaero told the new leaders of NANNM to keep in mind how important it is to look out for the safety and well-being of healthcare workers. Real leadership is shown by how it changes the lives of the people it serves, not by titles or roles. Promoting fair working conditions, protecting the rights of healthcare workers, and working for equality are not just tasks; they are what real leaders do.

Nnachi felt bad that social media sites were full of mean comments, hate speech, smear campaigns, lies, racial bias, character assassination, comments from people who don’t know what they’re talking about, and petitions. He told leaders that they should care about how society affects people, their well-being, and how to work with the government to make things better for Nigeria’s nurses and midwives.

An election is a democratic process in which delegates choose leaders to hold key places of trust for a set amount of time, as set by the constitution. To produce a good environment for performance, elections should go off without a hitch and be peaceful, fair, and trustworthy.

For the good of members and staff, leadership’s job is to support, protect, and work toward the organization’s goals and objectives. Any action that goes against these goals is harm to the organization’s goal. There is a constitution for NANNM that all contestants, delegates, and returning leaders must follow to the letter.
