Just In: Students Scamper For Safety As Gunmen Kill One, Abduct Two In Night Raid

Gunmen have killed one person and abducted two others in a night raid in Anambra State.

The gunmen were suspected to be members of the Eastern Security Network (ESN) of the indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB) in Anambra State.

The incident took place at Oko community in Orumba North local government area around 10pm.

According to the reports, the shooting scared residents, including students of the Federal Polytechnic Oko, who scampered for safety, while most of them ran into nearby bushes.

It was also gathered the two abductees failed to answer questions relating to the struggle for independence by members of the group.

An eyewitness (names withheld) told journalists that the men shot randomly, causing massive vehicular traffic as they operated.

The source said;

 “Unknown (gunmen) didn’t forgive us. About 30 mins ago, they came to Oko/Amaokpala, stopping vehicular movement coming from Ufuma and Umunze to Oko. They shot sporadically.

“They gunned down an old man who they interrogated first and asked him questions relating to the (IPOB) struggle.

“They stopped a Lexus 330 jeep and kidnapped the driver. A Toyota Camry (spider) was bashed. These young boys successfully carried out their operation for about 26 mins without being repelled by security agencies.

“They drove away with two persons, leaving one dead at the scene. To God be the glory as I ran today and visibly observed. I also lost my screen device.”

Anambra Police spokesman Ikenga Tochukwu was not available for confirmation.

His phone rang out without pick when contacted by journalists.

But a Senior Police Officer confirmed the incident.
