The body of the late Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, was brought to Abuja on November 14, 2024. This was the start of the funeral services for the great military leader. His body arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at 12:16 pm. Military officials and family members were there to accept it. There was a heavy air of sadness and reflection on his service to the country at this solemn event.
A Service of Songs will be held on Thursday, November 15, 2024, to honor his memory through music and tributes. This is where his coworkers, friends, and family will congregate. The event will give many people a chance to show their gratitude, honor his memory, and think about how he changed the Nigerian military and security in general.
It is planned that Lt. Gen. Lagbaja will be buried at the National Military Cemetery in Abuja on Friday afternoon. Many of Nigeria’s military leaders are buried in the graveyard, which is a solemn place where people who have served the country honorably can rest their heads.
Because of how hard he worked, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered that Lt. Gen. Lagbaja be buried in a state ceremony. With this award, he is recognized for the important part he played in building the Nigerian Army and his work to keep the country safe. He oversaw major military actions that were meant to stop terrorism, insurgency, and other threats to national security while he was Chief of the Army Staff.
Citizens and members of the military are both expected to show their respects at the funeral as the plans are made. Many people are sad about his death, and tributes are coming in from all over the world to honor his sacrifice and service to Nigeria’s defense industry. General Onyema Nwachukwu, who is in charge of Army Public Relations, stated that all the plans for the funeral are complete. This will ensure that the late COAS is remembered with the respect and honor he deserves, as is customary in the military. While the country mourns his death, many will remember him as a leader who gave his life to protecting and safety of Nigeria.
