Katsina Police Rescue Seven Victims Of Human Trafficking In Katsina

The Katsina State Police Command has rescued seven victims of human trafficking in the state.

According to the reports, the command said it raided a criminal hideout at Yankara village, Koza District in Maiā€™adua LGA of Katsina State, where the victims were camped.

The spokesman, Katsina Police Command, Superintendent Gambo Isah disclosed this in a press release.

He said the rescued victims, comprising four females and three males, were stashed in a house in the area.

The female victims include Success Oshoopkeme 20, of Asoko LGA, Edo State, Isaac Debora 20, of Ugunagbo LGA, Abia State, James Rebecca 20, of Minna LGA of Niger State, and Zainab Tijjani 21, of Ibadan LGA of Oyo State.

The rescue male according to the statement is Amoruwa Ade 28, of Irede LGA of Ondo State, Emmanuel Godwin 22, of Eka North LGA of Delta State and Taofik Olawale 27, of Ibadan LGA of Oyo State.

SP Gambo said the victims while being interrogated confessed that Ā ā€œthey were brought to the village by their agent who on sighting the police team, took to his heels, escaping with their GSM phones.

The victims also confessed that ā€œthey were on their way to Libya en route Niger Republic border when they were tracked down by security agents.ā€

SP Gambo said, ā€œthe rescued victims will be handed over to NAPTIP office, Kano, for further investigation and arrest of the traffickers.ā€
