Due to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic which is ravaging the world, the Lagos State Government has opted for a quite celebration of Nigeria’s 60th independence Anniversary.
As a usaul custom to commemorate the independence celebration, Governor Sanwo-Olu has ordered that the planned parade and other activities that involves the gathering of people be cancelled.
In a coomunique by Mr. Gbenga Omotoso, Commissioner for Information and Strategy on behalf of Sanwo-Olu said:
The Governor applaudes lagosians on ”this auspicious occasion and strongly advices that they should celebrate quietly at home and pray for the countrty.
” They should also observe the COVID-19 protocols, including wearing of face masks to protect themselves and their loved ones.
”They are to keep embracing social distancing and washing of hands with soap and water, Anybody who feels unwell should stay indoors and contact health authorities.”The statement also adds that the police and other security agencies have been strategically planted to ensure that nobody disobeys the directives
