On Friday, the retired Justice Doris Okuwobi-led judicial panel of inquiry on the Lekki shootings and SARS atrocities paid an unannounced visit to the Military Hospital ,Ikoyi Lagos in search for corpses.
According allegations and reports, there were some corpses of persons killed bt the military on the 20th of October in the lekki shooting that were being kept at the hospital.
Mr Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa (SAN) a member of the panel while explaining the panel’s mission to some soldiers at the Hospital gate said:
“The visit to the hospital is on the authority of the president and not only the Lagos State governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
“We are following due process. It is important that we visit the mortuary as it will help our findings but if we are not allowed access, we will go back and take other actions. We won’t force ourselves in. We heard this hospital is controlled by 65 Battalion and under the 81 Division. We are also taking steps to reach military authorities.”
The Panel led by Gen A.I Taiwo were eventually permitted within the premises and led around the building, and according to reports, there were no corpses or patients sighted by the panel members and members of their entourage.
