Man’s Car Catches Fire After Allegedly Buying Adulterated Fuel

A Nigerian man has cried out on Twitter after purchasing adulterated fuel from a black market, which allegedly resulted in his car going up in flames.

The man, identified simply as Hashem, revealed his car went up in flames after 3minutes on Gwarimpa Expressway, Abuja.

He wrote: “My car just went up in flames on Gwarimpa express less than 3 minutes after purchasing black market fuel. Be careful out there, guys.”

The Society of Testing Laboratory Analysts of Nigeria (SoTLAN) had earlier expressed worry over adulterated Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) being sold out as such products are harmful.

The adulterated PMS product in circulation that has led to long queues at filling stations contains 20 percent methanol, which is an illegal substance in Nigeria.
