Legendary Nigerian football player Jay Jay Okocha has entered the ongoing discussion about Lionel Messi vs. Cristiano Ronaldo as the best player of all time.
The pair has dominated debates about football brilliance for almost 20 years. Their rivalry has been accentuated by a record thirteen Ballon d’Or honors, with Messi winning eight and Ronaldo winning five.
Okocha stated that while both players are talented, he thinks Messi is the best in a recent interview with Pulse Fun Facts.
“They are both GOATs,” he remarked, “but Messi is my personal GOAT because he seems more like himself.”
During the course of his own brilliant career, which lasted from 1990 to 2012, Okocha gained notoriety for his astounding abilities. “So good they named him twice” was the moniker he acquired throughout his time in England, especially while playing for Bolton Wanderers. His support for Messi gives the ongoing argument—which also features thoughts from other football legends like Paul Scholes—a more intimate feel.
In his own comments, Scholes, who was Ronaldo’s teammate at Manchester United from 2003 to 2009, thinks that Messi is still superior to Ronaldo.
