Mohbad’s Widow Agrees To A DNA Test To Find Out Who The Father Of Their Son Is.

Omowunmi, who is married to the late singer and rapper Ilerioluwa Aloba aka Mohbad, has said she is ready to do a Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) test to find out who the father of their only son Liam is.

Newsline said that Joseph Aloba, the late singer’s father, filed a lawsuit to get his grandson a DNA test.

The family asked Joseph for permission to serve Wunmi by mailing all the original processes and other processes in the suit to the respondent’s last known address. A lawyer for the family wrote the application.

Emmanuel Oroko, who is in charge of the family’s legal team, said that efforts to serve Wunmi failed.

The Magistrates Court, which met on July 9, 2024, in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State, told both sides to look into other ways to settle their disagreement. This led to talks behind closed doors that also failed to reach a deal.

Newsmen got a statement from Monisola Odumosu, a member of the family’s legal team, on Sunday that said Wunmi had agreed to do the DNA test.

Odumosu also said that the deal terms that were written by both sides came next.

In the statement, Odumosu said, “Emmanuel Oroko told the court that both sides had reached a settlement outside of court and are ready to move forward with the terms of the settlement that were already filed and given to Wunmi Aloba’s lawyers.” To this, Kabir Akingbolu, Esq. agreed, and the court accepted the terms of the settlement as its decision. Adams Atata, Esq. and M.K.O. Orire, Esq. were also present.

According to Odumosu, Mohbad’s widow agreed as part of the deal that the DNA test would take place in a recognized and approved government or private hospital in Lagos State or another hospital outside of Lagos State that both parties agreed on.

The lawyer also said that Mohbad’s dad had agreed to pay for the tests and other fees that came with them.

“In the papers presented to the court, the respondent, Wunmi Aloba, agreed to have a Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) test done on herself and her son, Master Liam Aloba, at two (2) approved government or private hospitals in Lagos State or another hospital outside of Lagos State. The applicant, Mr. Joseph Aloba, then agreed to pay for the DNA test, which included the costs of the testing center, getting the samples, and any legal or administrative fees that came with it.

The court also said that the Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) test had to be done at a lab or medical center in Nigeria that both parties agreed on. In order to make sure that the test was accurate, the court also chose some cops to oversee the DNA test process, the statement said.

In the meantime, the statement says that the court also said that each side should pay their own costs in this case, except for the applicant’s promise to pay for the DNA tests.

Mohbad died when he was 27 years old, and the details of his death caused a lot of debate on social media.

Mohbad left the record label Marlian Music in February 2022. He used to be signed to the label by Naira Marley. On September 18, 2023, the Lagos State Police Command set up a 13-person special investigation team to look into how the singer died.

Other people who were arrested because of his death were Naira Marley and Balogun Eletu, also known as Sam Larry, a famous socialite from Lagos.

Mohbad’s body was dug up on September 21, 2023, so an autopsy could be done to find out how he died.

Meanwhile, some people from different countries are worried about the coroner’s inquest into Mohbad’s death, saying that it might not be fair and that proof might be hidden.

The group said in a statement on Sunday that they were fighting for truth, justice, equity, and accountability, and that they had been keeping an eye on the court in Ikorodu, Lagos State, Nigeria.

The observers were worried about the processes being put off and other things they said could hurt Mohbad’s chances of getting justice.

During Omowunmi Adebanjo, Mohbad’s widow, was being cross-examined, the onlookers also said that lawyers were constantly getting in the way of getting the information they needed.
