Monaco, on wednesday, have announced Paul Mitchell as the club’s new sports director. The Ligue 1 Club made this announcement in a statement saying that the 38-year old Englishman will be heading and managing all of Monaco’s sports policy, from the academy up to the professional team.
The club also revealed that the new sports director will be responsible for managing the sports policy of Cercle Brugge, the Monaco-owned Belgian club. Mitchell expressed his excitement as he takes over at the club. “I am looking forward to taking up my position, meeting the teams and starting to work together to develop the project and establish a sustainable philosophy for the club,” he said.
Mitchell was the technical director of the Red Bull collection of clubs. Before then, he was the head of recruitment at RB Leipzig. Paul Mitchell has established himself as very capable having worked over time as recruitment heads at clubs like Southampton and Tottenham in the English Premier League.
Mitchell will officially resume for duty at Monaco on Thursday and will be working as charged towards reducing the number of players in contract with the Ligue 1 club.
