A 72-year-old man named Ishola Olatunji has been arrested by operatives of the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly raping a minor in Ogun State.
The suspect was said to have been arrested following the complaint of the minor’s mother at Iperu police station, Iperu – Remo, Ikenne Local Government Area of Ogun State.
According to DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, Police spokesman of the state, in a statement, he said the mother of the minor went out and only to see her little child feeling very uneasy. He said:
“When she made an enquiry from the little girl, she explained to her that it was the old man who lured her into his room and forcefully had sex with her,” the statement read
“The victim was taken to an hospital where it was confirmed that the girl has been actually defiled.”
Also he stated that the suspect had made confessional statements confessing to the crime, however, the Commissioner of police Edward Awolowo Ajogun, has ordered that the case be transferred to the anti human trafficking and child labour unit of the state criminal investigation and intelligence department for further investigation and prosecution.
