Osun state commissioner of health has announced that a lagos based doctor has tested positive of the dreaded corona virus.
This was made known in a statement by the commissioner of health , Rafiu Isamotu.
According to the statement the medical doctor came into Osun State on Saturday to join his family .
he however noted that there are four active cases currently in the state.
Therefore, we have recorded thirty nine cases according to the Nigerian Center for Disease Control (NCDC)
The health commissioner further noted that, on arrival, the doctor suspected that he had been infected with the virus and checked himself into the State Isolation and Treatment Centre at Asubiaro, Osogbo where his sample was immediately taken and sent for testing at the NCDC accredited Testing Centre in Ede.
We are glad that he didn’t have contact with anyone but took the initiative to check himself into our isolation centre immediately he arrived in Osun. That way, the virus was contained”.
The commissioner reminded residents to adhere strictly to the dusk-to-dawn (6am-5pm) curfew on Monday to Thursday and the total lock-down on Friday to Sunday put in place by the State government, saying that it was for the benefit of all.
Isamotu said: “The cases recorded in the State recently were of those who came into the State and I want to appeal to our people to stop encouraging their relatives or friends to return to Osun as this might endanger the lives of our people.
