On Tuesday, March 5, Nigerian Senators put the commencement of their sitting on hold for a moment over the unavailability of power supply in the red chamber in Abuja.
Power was later restored, and the lawmakers converged in their chamber to begin the day’s plenary session.
Recall that the Abuja Electricity Distribution PLC in February threatened to disconnect the electricity supply of 86 Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) over a total debt of N47.1bn.
Some of the MDAs include the Ministry of Finance, Information, Budget, Works, and Housing, barracks, the Nigeria Police Force, the Presidential Villa, the CBN Governor, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), and state liaison offices in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
