Paris St Germain has confirmed Aminata Diallo, a midfielder in the women’s team, has been taken into custody on Wednesday following an attack on one of the club’s players, Kheira Hamraoui.
Diallo, 26, has played for PSG for five years, while fellow France international Hamraoui, 31, joined from Barcelona in July.
On Thursday, November 4 Both players represent PSG and the France women’s national team together and Kheira was attacked while on the street last week.
According to the reports, Diallo is accused of playing a part in hiring two masked men to drag Hamraoui out of her car, punch and hit her legs in a bid to injure her and eliminate her so she would not have competition for places in the squad.
The ambush happened as she returned home with some of her teammates after dinner. The masked assailants are said to have pulled her from her vehicle and struck her with an iron bar.
A PSG statement on Wednesday read: “Paris St Germain can confirm that Aminata Diallo was taken into custody this morning by the Versailles Regional Police Service as part of the proceedings opened following an attack on [one of] the club’s players last Thursday evening.
“Paris St Germain condemns in the strongest possible terms the violence committed.”Since Thursday evening the club has taken all necessary measures to guarantee the health, well-being and safety of its entire women’s team.
Paris St Germain is working with the Versailles Police to clarify the facts. The club is paying close attention to the progress of the proceedings and will study what action to take.”
