Nigerian singer, Peter Okoye, best known as Mr. P has been dragged to court by the West African Youth Support and Development Forum, for allegedly defrauding the group of N2.8 million Naira.
According to Prosper Ibezim, a member of the board of Directors of the WAYSDF, Mr. P was paid a 70% upfront fee to perform at the West African Champions League at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba, on June 16, 2019.
Ibezim said the singer never showed up for the occasion, and even refused to take his calls or return messages sent to him.
He said Mr. P’s refusal to turn up for the event being the main act, cost them over N33 million in losses.
He alleged that the singer sent a spy to monitor the show, and also threatened his life for seeking out means to recover the upfront payment.
