Operatives of the South-east security outfit, Ebubeagu, have been accused of killing seven wedding guests in Awomama, Oru West Local Government Area of Imo state.
According to the reports, the wedding guests were returning to their village in Otulu in Oru East LGA on Sunday, July 17, when the gunmen opened fire on them, killing seven of them.
Nnamdi Agbor, the president of General of Otulu community, who confirmed the incident said seven persons died on the spot while others were missing.
He said, “As they were going home Ebubeagu operatives saw them in motorcycles and opened fire on them. As I speak to you, we have recovered seven dead bodies who are our people.
The monarch said that five are missing, while two are critically injured”.
CSP Mike Abattam, the spokesperson of the state police command, has confirmed the incident and said an investigation into the incident has commenced.
