Sokoto Monarch Killed In Kidnappers’ Den

Tajudeen Abbas, Speaker of the House of Representatives, has expressed sadness over the death of the District Head of Gatawa in Sokoto State, Isa Bawa, in the kidnappers’ den.

The bandits had kidnapped the late District Head of Gatawa and his son on July 29. The late Bawa was reported to have died in captivity.

Abbas in a statement by his media aide, Musa Krishi on Thursday decried that the kidnap and treatment of the late emir were inhuman.

He said, “In the first place, the bandits’ kidnap of the traditional ruler was barbaric, their treatment of the late Sarkin Gobir as inhuman.”

He decried the continuous kidnapping for ransom in the country, stating that it “was unacceptable.”

The Speaker sent heartfelt condolences to the family of the late Sarkin Gobir, the Gatawa District in Sabon Birni Local Government, the people, and the government of Sokoto State over the irreparable loss.

He prayed that  “Allah would have mercy on the soul of the late Alhaji Isa Muhammad Bawa and make Jannatul Firdaus his final abode.”
