A crisis has engulfed the Rivers State House of Assembly as lawmakers launched impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminalayi Fubara on Monday.
Recall that last night, a section of the assembly was set ablaze by yet-to-be-identified persons to disrupt plans by the lawmakers to impeach the governor. It is alleged that Governor Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, are currently at loggerheads over the governance of the state.
This morning, the lawmakers gathered to vote for the removal of the House leader, Edison Ehie, who is said to be a close ally of Gov. Fubara. The governor also stormed the Assembly Complex with some of his aides.
The House also removed its leader, Edison Ehie, for alleged supervision of the burning of the Assembly Complex on Sunday night.
