The family of the late General Jeremiah Useni, the former military administrator of the now-defunct Bendel State, has received condolences from Monday Okpebholo, the governor of Edo State.
Senator Okpebholo said in a press release released by the governor’s chief press secretary on Friday that Useni’s death was a great loss to the Edo State administration and populace.
He hailed the late Useni, a former Federal Capital Territory Minister as well, as a great statesman who spearheaded educational reforms and directed the construction of vital infrastructure.
The statement said, “The people and administration of Edo State are deeply saddened by the passing of General Jeremiah Useni (retd), the former military administrator of the now-defunct Bendel State.
The late Army General had a lasting impression on the lives of many residents of Bendel State (now Edo and Delta States) via his distinguished and committed service.
“General Useni was a great statesman who tirelessly fought for justice, promoted educational reforms, and oversaw the construction of vital infrastructure.
He will always be remembered for his dedication to the people of Bendel State (now Edo and Delta States), his compassionate nature, his optimism, and his steadfast commitment to public service.
“General Useni inspired a generation of public officials, led our people through difficult times, and established the groundwork for our future prosperity while he was in government.
“His vision and leadership will be sorely missed.” Governor Monday Okpebholo sends his sincerest sympathies to his family and loved ones during this trying time on behalf of the people and government of Edo State.
