The father of Afrobeats sensation Ayodeji Balogun, better known as Wizkid, Chief Munir Balogun, has spoken out about the continuing rivalry between his son and fellow musician Davido.
Regarding the matter, Chief Balogun disclosed that he has counseled Wizkid to disregard the provocations emanating from Davido’s fan base, advising him to maintain concentration and eschew needless diversions.
In a Punch Newspapers exclusive, Chief Balogun revealed, “I told my son that he shouldn’t look or listen to whatever the lads who are Davido supporters are saying. The supporters are solely interested on what they can say to get donations and other things.
He clarified that supporters frequently create controversies and seek publicity for their own gain, saying Wizkid ought to be heard above the din.
“I told him not to pay much attention to them because they are just looking for something to eat,” he continued.
The older Balogun added that he had seen the rivalry on the internet.
Both Wizkid and Davido are seen as some of the greatest names in the Nigerian music industry, and their long-standing conflicts have been the topic of many fan conversations.
