Trump signs to stop TikTok and WeChat

Donald Trump has signed on thursday August 2020 to stop the Tiktok and Wechat apps. Tiktok has gained global audience. It was a decision made to prevent the chinese from accessing the privacy of the American citizens. Wechat was also banned on grounds that it allows transfer of funds which can not be monitored.

Trump also said he has allowed Microsoft to handle the buying the Tiktok.

Trump issued the orders under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, a law that grants the administration sweeping power to bar US firms or citizens from trading or conducting financial transactions with sanctioned parties.

On Monday August 3, Trump said he would support the sale of TikTok’s US operations to Microsoft and set September 15 as the deadline for TikTok to find a US buyer.
