Femi Falana, a human rights lawyer and a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, has criticized the Federal Government’s decision to shut down Twitter’s operations in the country.
In a constitutional democracy, the senior lawyer, who was a guest on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Wednesday, claimed the government is not allowed to use self-help.
According to Falana, the government is meant to have “sued Twitter if the organization refuses to respond positively to the concerns of the government”.
He went on to say that the action should have been filed in either the United States or Ghana, where the microblogging service provider’s African headquarters are located.
