Unknown gunmen on Wednesday night September 7 allegedly killed three policemen and kidnapped another during an attack in the New Haven area of the Enugu North Local Government Area of Enugu state.
The attack happened around 10:30 pm in front of St. Francis Supermarket at the Block Bus stop. The gunmen who were believed to be armed robbers were reported to have stormed the area and engaged the policemen on stop-and-search duty in a gun duel, according to the eyewitness.
According to the reports, the dead police officers were overpowered before they were killed by the gunmen. Two other persons were also said to have been killed during the attack.
The state police command is yet to comment on this development.
