Justice Egwuatu stopped the case and asked for medical help for the teens who had passed out. The court’s clinic’s health workers were called to help right away.
Five teenage suspects passed out just minutes after being arraigned at the Federal High Court in Abuja on November 1. The hearing had to be stopped.
The young suspects were among 125 people being charged with terrorism who were standing in front of Justice Obiora Egwuatu. They were accused of taking part in the #EndBadGovernance protests in Kano State.
The 125 defendants were split into two groups by the Nigeria Police Force. 76 and 49 of the suspects were set to be arraigned separately.
As the first group of young defendants walked up to the dock, several of them suddenly passed out, which caused instant concern in the courtroom.
Justice Egwuatu stopped the case and asked for medical help for the teens who had passed out. The court’s clinic’s health workers were called to help right away.
Marshall Abubakar, the lawyer for the accused, said that the accident happened because the people involved were very hungry and didn’t get enough medical care.
Abubakar said, “All of these little kids are sick and hungry.” “The police have held them for weeks without giving them food or medical care.” They’re sick and need to get better. That’s what led to these bad things happening.
Reports say that the teens were held in jail for several weeks without enough food or medical care, which made their health worse.
