In just a few hours after its publication, fans have flooded social media with responses to the film, which takes place in three different settings.
Wizkid, the Grammy-winning Afrobeats artist, has released the much awaited music video for his smash song, Kese (Dance). Fans are already going crazy about the images, which were revealed on Wednesday night and are already trending as the most popular topic on X (previously Twitter).
Wizkid’s most recent music video for Kese (Dance) adds new graphics to a song that has already topped the charts while showcasing his trademark blend of dancehall and Afrobeats.
The song “Morayo,” a hit from his most recent album, broke streaming records and received over 1.5 million Spotify plays in a single day, setting a new record for a Nigerian release. The song remained at the top of the US Afrobeats Top 100, Apple Music Top Charts, and the Official Nigeria Top 100 for weeks.
A JM film produced the song video. The video, which was directed by Wizkid himself, takes place in three different locations. Under his watchful eye, a group of dancers polish complex choreography on a darkly lit theater stage as the show commences. The scene changes to a vibrant house party, where Wizkid effortlessly moves to the music and joins the crowd.
In the closing scene, Wizkid poses with tastefully attired Black models in an art gallery, making a powerful visual message that honors beauty, tradition, and cultural pride.
The Kese (Dance) music video enhances the excitement of the song with its intricate choreography, lively visuals, and captivating narrative. Within an hour of its publication, the film has received over 14,000 views, and fans had already poured their reactions onto social media. As of this report, it has received more than 500,000 views.
Tour of Morayo
The release of the video coincides with Wizkid’s announcement that his Morayo tour will begin in May. He will play at important European locations, such as the Accor Arena in Paris (May 25), the Ahoy RTM Stage in Rotterdam (May 23), and Berlin’s Velodrome Arena (May 21).
“Morayo,” Wizkid’s sixth studio album, was released in November 2024 and is a very intimate ode to his mother. Collaborations with Tiakola, Jazmine Sullivan, Brent Faiyaz, Anaïs Cardot, and Asake are included.
Wizkid’s development is demonstrated in “Kese (Dance),” which combines the sophistication of “Made in Lagos” with his early sound to produce a song that keeps dance floors dancing all over the world.
