Woman Apprehended Over Faux Credit Alert Scam

Police Officers in Kano have apprehended an alleged fraudster identified Fati Umar Dikko, who is involved in generating fake bank credit alerts to traders to escape with their goods without paying.

The suspect, a resident of Rijiyar Zaki Quarters, Gwale council area, was apprehended following complaints from three of her alleged victims.

Among the items she reportedly bought with fake alerts are four pieces of wrappers valued at N57,000, three pieces of lace material and one handbag valued at N90,000, six pieces of wrappers valued at N51,400.

In all three transactions, the suspect made fake credit alerts and left with the items, it was learnt.

Police spokesman Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa said upon receipt of the complaints, Commissioner of Police Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko raised a team of detectives led by SP Daniel Itse Amah to trace the culprit.

During questioning, the suspect confessed to the crime, stating that she had defrauded several people.

Following her arrest, four more cases of the same caliber came to light.
