As a woman, your period is your body’s way of releasing tissue that it no longer needs.
Menstruation is a woman’s monthly bleeding, often called your “period.” When you menstruate, your body discards the monthly buildup of the lining of your uterus (womb). Menstrual blood and tissue flow from your uterus through the small opening in your cervix and pass out of your body through your vagina.
Period is usually very uncomfortable, but to be sincere, it indicates good health.
In this article, I will list out just 5 things you should avoid doing during your menstruation.
1.) SMOKING
Smoking normally as we all know is very dangerous to the health.
Women who smoke during the menstrual cycle are prone to excess abdominal pain, so it is advisable to avoid smoking and especially during your flow.
2.) WEARING A SANITARY PRODUCT ALL DAY
Irrespective of whichever sanitary wears you use either tampons or sanitary pads, you should avoid wearing any of these for above 4 hours.
Wearing the same product for more than 4 to 6 hours will prove to be a breeding ground for bacteria and will lead to the development of bad odor.
3.) ACCUMULATING LOTS OF SALTY FOODS
Foods with relatively very high contents is not good for you, as well as if you are menstruating, avoid lots of salt as this can increase or cause you to have cramps.
4.) DRINKING LOTS OF COFFEE
Consuming lots of caffeine can increase your menstrual pain, however, you might crave a little coffee but limit the intake.
5.) WAXING OR SHAVING
Once you are menstruating, avoid shaving especially because of chemical reactions, especially when using shaving creme. Also in case you are using sticks, to avoid having a cut which could also lead to an infection. Its advisable to shave or wax a week earlier or after menstruating.
