Angulo, a talented young player on loan from FC Cincinnati to Liga de Quito, was driving with four other people on the Ruminahui highway in the southeast of Quito when their car hit a huge 50-ton metal structure. The force of the crash did a lot of damage. Angulo got a pulmonary contusion and serious head injuries. To try to save his life, doctors did a decompressive craniectomy to take the pressure off of his brain. He also needed a chest tube for his injured lungs. Angulo’s situation got worse despite the medical help, and he sadly died of his injuries on the night of October 9.
