On Saturday night 29 criminal suspects are said to have escaped from the Central Police Station in Umuahia North Local Government Area, the Abia State capital.
Information has it that the suspects deceieved the cell guard saying they were pressed, upon hearing that he opened to hand water over to them, of which they pushed him and over powered him.
However, Geoffrey Ogbonna, The Command Police Public Relations Officer confirmed the incident.
He therefore urged all members of the public to be on the look out for such suspects who escaped and promised that they would be rearrested and prosecuted.
