Assault On Bolt Driver: I Regret My Actions — Alex Ikwechegh

Alex Ikwechegh, a member of the Nigerian House of Representatives, has conveyed his remorse for the incident involving the assault of a Bolt driver who arrived to deliver a package to him.

In a public statement titled ‘A Statement of Regret and Commitment to Justice’, Ikwechegh expressed remorse for his actions, which were documented in a viral video, and recognized the behavior as “unacceptable” for someone in a public office.

He has pledged to collaborate with the ongoing police investigation and to manage the situation through counseling.

Ikwechegh stated, “As a public servant, I acknowledge the trust bestowed upon me by my constituents and the Nigerian people.” I acknowledge that my behavior did not meet the expected standards, and I sincerely apologize for that. He recognized the embarrassment and damage inflicted upon the driver, his constituents, and the nation.

Dedication to Constructive Transformation

Ikwechegh committed to tackling the “underlying issues” through counseling and declared his participation in community service initiatives designed to foster respect, empathy, and understanding.

A Request for Respect and Dignity
