Authorities in Peru have declared that they are looking into the singer Shakira’s leaked medical records.
Following her care at a clinic in Lima, Shakira’s medical records were reportedly leaked on social media.
The 48-year-old had to postpone a highly anticipated Sunday performance after being rushed to the emergency department on Saturday due to an intestinal ailment.
The singer’s medical report appeared online shortly after her brief hospital stay.
Ruby Cubas, the spokesperson for Peru’s national health service inspector, responded to the incident by threatening the hospital with severe fines and penalties.
“We met the officials at the clinic on Monday, and they provided their explanation, which is confidential,” she stated.
The duration of Peru’s probe is 25 days.
The Delgado Clinic, the hospital where Shakira received treatment, has stated that it is looking into what it described as a “serious ethical breach of our code of conduct and regulations governing personal data processing,” according to AFP.
