Officials say that the Recording Academy has changed a few award categories to “enhance the integrity and inclusivity of the GRAMMY Awards” in a year of big changes.
The new categories are meant to be more in line with current industry norms and honor a wider range of musical styles.

The Academy added a new category this year called “Best Dance Pop Recording,” which took the place of the old “Best Pop Dance Recording.” They also moved the “Best Remixed Recording” title to the Pop & Dance/Electronic Field.
As stated by Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr., these changes are in line with the Academy’s promise to “support the evolving music landscape” and create an awards process that truly “empowers creators.”
Mason told voting members that the GRAMMYs have a “67-year tradition” and that “every vote can shape the future of music” in his message.
The 67th GRAMMY Awards will be held on Sunday, February 2, and will be televised live from the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. Today’s choices are also a buildup to the big event.
The Academy has also changed who can enter and how to submit, especially for the Songwriter of the Year category. Now, musicians can qualify with fewer songs, with the goal of “welcoming more voices” into the field.
Fans and people who work in the entertainment business are both looking forward to today’s nominations. They are the result of months of voting and picking, which began with the entry period in July and the first voting rounds in October.
