Hundreds of prisoners have been set free from the medium federal correctional centre in Kabba, Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State by unidentified gunmen.
The Gunmen conducted the assault on the prison centre which is on the Kabba – LOKOJA highway, on Sunday night through Monday morning, killing the military men keeping guide on the road before attacking the centre.
The gunmen then conducted an attack on the prison guards before proceeding to set all the prisoners free. According to Punch an early morning downpour of rain on Monday led to their escape. The building housing the inmates was reportedly submerged by flood.
About 100 of the escaped inmates have been apprehended, while unspecified number voluntarily returned to their cells.
