Chris Nkwonta, a representative in the House of Representatives for Ukwa East/West in Abia State, has transitioned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Speaker Tajudeen Abbas made this announcement during the plenary session on the floor of the House on Wednesday in Abuja.
In response to the defection, Deputy Minority Leader Aliyu Madaki referenced a section of the constitution, asserting that Nwonta’s seat should be declared vacant.
In reply, the Speaker informed Madaki that he is cognizant of a faction within the PDP.
Further information will be provided subsequently.
