On Wednesday, the police in FCT disclosed that it has finally identified the male cross-dresser found dead along the Katampe-Mabushi expressway on August 8, 2024, and gave his name as Ifeanyi-Chukwu Ajah Benedict.
SP Josephine Adeh, spokesperson of the Command made this known in a statement.
She said, “Sequel to a case of culpable homicide and discovery of an unidentified male corpse earlier mistaken for a female on August 8, 2024, the operatives of the FCT Command have begun a discreet investigation as ordered by the Commissioner of Police FCT, CP Benneth Igweh.
“Preliminary investigations revealed the deceased to be one Ifeanyi Chukwu-Agah Benedict, a ‘33’ year old man who hails from Afikpo North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State and resides at Dapé in Karmo Area of Abuja.
“The family of the deceased has also been contacted, as they are aiding the police with necessary information.
“Further development will be communicated in due course.
Recall that the Commissioner of Police of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Benneth Igweh, ordered an immediate investigation into the death of the earlier unidentified crossdresser.
The crossdresser’s corpse was found along Katampe-Mabushi expressway, Abuja in the early hours of Thursday, August 8.
The police said, “A distress call was received by the Command Control Room on August 8, 2024, at about 07:40 am, that an unidentified lady was seen lying motionless along Katampe-Mabushi expressway, and a team of detectives were immediately dispatched to the scene.”
The statement added that preliminary investigations revealed that the individual was a man fully dressed in female clothing with no means of identification.
“He was immediately taken to Maitama District Hospital, where doctors on duty confirmed him dead.
“The Commissioner of Police, FCT, CP Benneth Igweh, has promptly ordered a thorough and discreet investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding his death.”
