Desist From Street Begging Or Face The Consequences – Ogun state

Mrs. Funmi Efuwape, The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development urges all street beggars to desist from loitering about the State or else they would be punished to sweep the market square for 2 weeks.

She expressed her concern as to how she has noticed able-bodied men and women loitering about and begging for money in the State especially during this pandemic era whereas they are to be more conscious of their health.

She said;

“I observed that every morning, most of you are always loitering about, especially within Ibara Housing Estate begging for money, and you are able-bodied, sane, and sound.”

“Some of you have been empowered financially at one time or the other and you have diverted the money to unprofitable ventures.

“This is just a warning, after this, any street beggar caught, will be made to sweep the market for two consecutive weeks as well as wash the public toilets”
