Dr. Idris Abdulaziz, a well-known Sunni Islamic preacher, passed away following a battle with an unidentified disease.
His funeral will be held in Games Village Eid Ground, Bauchi on Friday at 10:00 a.m., according to the official Facebook page of his mosque, Dutsen Tanshi Majlis Bauchi, which verified his passing.
According to his will, the deceased preacher forbade taking pictures at his funeral, called off a memorial service at his house, and prohibited anybody from scurrying for his body or wearing shoes to the grave.
The late scholar was embroiled in numerous disputes and at odds with the police, traditional leaders, other Izala and Tariqa clerics, and successive Bauchi State administrations.
He earned a PhD in Islamic Jurisprudence in Sudan and a degree in Islamic Law from the Islamic University of Madinah.
Isa Pantami, a former minister of communication and digital economy, sent a condolence message to Jannatul Fiddausi, praying for his soul’s rest.
