EFCC Invites Bobrisky And VeryDarkMan As It Investigates Claims Of Bribery Against Its Own Staff.

Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, and Idris Okuneye, also referred to as Bobrisky, have been invited by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to discuss charges of bribery against Commission employees.

This is in response to Ola Olukoyede, the Commission Chairman, ordering a swift probe into Bobrisky’s alleged bribery of certain commission officers.

In a widely viewed viral video on the internet, uploaded by Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, Bobrisky said that certain anonymous EFCC operatives demanded N15,000,000 from him in exchange for the retraction of money laundering allegations made against him.

Bobrisky was first charged with six counts related to money laundering and naira abuse totaling N127,780,877.98.

According to reports, the funds were deposited into his company’s Eco Bank Plc account, 2830002929, between September 2021 and April 2024.

But after Suleiman Suleiman, the EFCC’s counsel, prayed, the offense was withdrawn.

He had reported to the court that Bobrisky and the commission had an agreement.

“We have an agreement with the defendant, which will lead us to withdraw counts 5 and 6,” Suleiman was cited as saying. We respectfully request that the court reject counts 5 and 6, keeping counts 1 through 4 in tact under the current circumstances.

Nonetheless, Bobrisky was found guilty of misusing the nation’s currency.

The EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, clarified in a statement on Tuesday that Bobrisky and VDM were invited to the Lagos Directorate in order to help investigators uncover the purported bribes.

According to Oyewale, “Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky, made allegations of bribery against certain Commission officers in a widely circulated viral video. The EFCC chairman has ordered an immediate investigation into these claims.”

The ex-convict Okuneye claimed in the VeryDarkMan-powered video that certain EFCC officers demanded N15,000,000 from him in exchange for dropping their allegations of money laundering.

“The head of the EFCC acted quickly and assembled a team of investigators to thoroughly examine the claims. In order to help investigators uncover the alleged bribery, the Commission therefore asks Okuneye and Otse to make themselves available at its Lagos Directorate.

Oyewale gave Nigerians his word that the claims would be looked into in great detail.

The EFCC wants to reassure the public that the accusations would be looked at properly and that the results will be made public. At all times, the Commission will uphold its basic principles of bravery, professionalism, integrity, and teamwork.
