ENUGU: Govt Demolishes Building Of Man Who Led Thugs To Pull Down Airport Fence

On Thursday, Hadi Sirika, Minister of Aviation said that Mr. John Jerry Emejulu accompanied by hundreds of armed thugs and bulldozers, had demolished up to 2km of the Enugu airport fence before the Nigerian Air Force and Police intervened to arrest the situation.

“This is certainly unfortunate, unbecoming,” Sirika said during a visit to the airport on Thursday. “Emejulu has done his best.

But in doing his best, he has given the opportunity to government to show how not to wilfully destroy public assets belonging to 200 million people. It’s totally unacceptable.”

However, the building belonging to Emejulu which was demolished barely 24 hours after, is said to be situated along Eziokwe street off Nike Lake road, Trans Ekulu, Enugu.

At the site to monitor the demolition was the Chairman of ECTDA, Dr Josef Onoh, who reportedly said that his agency obtained court order to demolish the duplex.

Onoh said the property stood on water way and needed to give way. He denies that the action was in reprisal to Emejulu’s demolition of the airport fence being constructed as part of the airport rehabilitation.
