Manager Arne Slot declared on Friday that Alisson Becker is well enough to play when Liverpool visits struggling Wolves in the Premier League.
Although Caoimhin Kelleher filled in for the first-choice goalie in the last two games, Slot stated that the Brazilian was expected to start on Saturday.
At his pre-game press conference, Slot stated, “He trained yesterday a part of our session with the group, so we’re expecting him to do the whole session today.”
We believe he is available, but today is training day, of course.
“Of course, we’re thrilled that Alisson is back, but I want to highlight how well Caoimhin performed in the two games he started in goal for us. This is just another instance of how I have two, if not three, excellent options at different positions.”
With four wins from their opening five games, Liverpool is sitting just one point behind champion Manchester City in the Premier League.
When Slot took over as manager in the early going after replacing Jurgen Klopp, he declared that it had been a “good start, but not a perfect one.”
“Aside from the minor setback of losing at home against Nottingham Forest, I think it’s been a good start,” he stated.
“Every home game you lose is disappointing, particularly when it’s not against a team fighting for a top-four spot, but you never know what Nottingham Forest will do this year,” the player said.
“The way we play and the style we play is still very similar to what you guys were used to for nine years, which is quite normal because we almost have the exact same players that Jurgen had,” the Dutchman continued.
Maintaining the progress is beneficial. I must say again how helpful the fixture list has been to us.
