Fulani Kwajafa, a retired police officer who championed the formation of the controversial Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS), has expressed utmost regret over the creation of the now-dissolved unit. Speaking with BBC Hausa on Thursday, October 15, amid ongoing outrage generated by the disbanded unit, Kwajafa lamented that the formation, unfortunately, derailed from the purpose of its creation before it was disbanded.

He further explained that the motive for the creation of SARS was borne out of a necessity to create a strategy that would champion the fight against armed-robbery that was rampant in the country then.
