FG Launched Committee On Local Vaccine Production

The Federal Government has launched the Inter-Ministerial Steering Committee and the Technical Working Group (TWG) on local vaccine manufacturing.

On June 6, the Federal government launched the committee in Abuja, and  Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire, said it was in line with the Nigeria Vaccine Policy (NVP).

“As you’re aware, vaccines nationalism poses a threat to the overall national security architecture of our dear country, and the government remains focused and determined to acquire capacities for local vaccine manufacturing as quickly as possible.

“The political will and commitment of government are focused on making our country a hub for the production of good quality, safe, affordable, and efficacious vaccines,” he said.

The Minister also disclosed that the terms of reference for the committee include approving recommendations on vaccine production from the TWG; providing financial and technical support to accomplish an effective functioning of the TWG, and providing sustainable financial support for local vaccine manufacturing.
