Heineken Lokpobiri, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), has described how Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, helped him get appointed as the Minister of Petroleum.
At a gathering held in Wike’s honor on Saturday in Port Harcourt, Lokpobiri revealed this, saying, “My brothers and sisters, it is important to tell you that Nyesom Wike also made it possible for me to stand before you today as the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources.” You also heard the MD of the NDDC’s perspective, who stated that his nomination was directly influenced by the minister of the FCT.
“I could have had a more direct role in my own situation. Some of you might not be aware. Everything took place in Wike’s home in Port Harcourt and ended there in Abuja. The minister’s home in Port Harcourt served as the starting point of my second journey to become a minister, and it ended there in Abuja. Finishing this history is vital to me.
“Because our names were not listed among those who had benefited from his kindness when I was reading the welcome message. I had assumed that my name, Heineken Lokpobiri, would have been listed with the people he has assisted. But I have to finish it because my name is missing. Ijaw people, I want you to know that we have a friend and a brother.
“Having a good friend is always preferable to having a bad brother. What good is a nasty brother? It serves no purpose. However, you are already fortunate if you have a close buddy like the FCT minister.
“Your Excellency, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, allow me to thank you on behalf of the Ijaw people worldwide for your gesture of love for us. We Ijaw people have a great sense of gratitude. We won’t repay you with evil if you do us good. Thus, you have our eternal gratitude for everything that you have done for the Ijaw people. We anticipate seeing more from you on behalf of our Ijaw people.
“It is not true that Ijaw people are fighting me,” he said. One of a father’s twelve children might be an armed robber. Where were these individuals when we appointed an Ijaw governor? They are the ones who are going to trash me on television. I have no opposition from anyone. I’m too large. Too big for anyone to engage in combat. Together, none of these individuals can defeat me.
“I warned them that you would burn if you stuck your hand in Rivers State matters. They cry all over the place these days. They were too busy holding meetings in Taraba and Enugu states to focus on how to win elections in their states. Who is currently losing?
