Turkey charged on Thursday that Israel was attempting to spread the fatal blasts that tore through Hezbollah strongholds in Gaza to Lebanon.
Speaking on state-run TRT television, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated, “The escalation in the region is alarming.” “We observe Israel gradually stepping up its attacks against Lebanon.”
According to estimates from the Lebanese health ministry, 32 people—including two children—had died and another 3,000 have been injured in two days of explosives.
Regarding the historic operation in which pagers and walkie-talkies used by Hezbollah agents detonated in shops, at funerals, and on the streets, Israel has remained silent.
However, Yoav Gallant, the minister of defense, stated on Wednesday that “the center of gravity is moving northward,” alluding to Israel’s border with Lebanon.
Turkey attributed the explosions to Israel.
“Iran, Hezbollah, and elements close to them have no choice but to respond, as these operations carried out by Israel have reached a point where they have become increasingly provocative,” Fidan added.
Hamas, a terrorist Palestinian organization that has been at war in Gaza since attacking Israel on October 7, counts Hezbollah as an ally.
Israel has directed its bombardment against Hamas-ruled Gaza for almost a year.
However, its forces have also been fighting Hezbollah militants almost every day along its northern border, resulting in the deaths of hundreds of people—mostly fighters—in Lebanon and dozens more in Israel.
