ISWAP purportedly prohibits farmers and fishermen from operating in Borno LG.

The terrorist group Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP) has reportedly barred all farmers, fishers, and herders from its areas of presence in Marte Local Government Area in Borno State.

According to Daily Trust sources, ISWAP pledged to eliminate everyone discovered in the general regions of Katikime, Bulungahe, Kutukungunla, Chikun Gudu, Tumbumma, Guma Kura, Guma Gana, and New Marte after accusing them of spying for the Nigerian military.

This comes after the terrorist group sustained a series of devastating losses as a result of continuous airstrikes coordinated by the Nigerian military in some known Marte hideouts. The strikes resulted in the elimination of key ISWAP commanders, scores of foot soldiers, and the destruction of their supplies, VBIED factory, and vehicles.

To avoid any type of mass assembly, the terrorists were forced to disperse into camps within Marte as a result of the successful offensives. ISWAP has now decided to only converge at a site designated as “large” when any type of attack must be coordinated.
