Lagos-Bound Truck Somersaults In Niger, Kills 23

The tragedy occurred at about 5:00am on the Bokani -Makera Road in Mokwa Local Government Area of Niger State.

According to reports, a truck loaded with cows and about 45 persons skidded off the road and somersaulted into the bush, killing about 23 people while about 22 were injured.

Confirming the Incident, Adamu Usman, Commissioner of Police stated that the truck, with registration number BBJ 666 XA, was coming from Dadin Kowa, in Kebbi State, enroute to Lagos when the incident occurred.

Usman, who attributed the accident to loss of control by the driver, lamented the failure of drivers to obey traffic rules and regulations.
