LG poll: Ogun Declared A Holiday And Made It Harder To Move Around

Thursday, the government of Ogun State said that today, Friday, would not be a work day so that government workers could go to their local governments and vote in Saturday’s local government election.

In a letter dated November 14, 2024 and signed by the Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya, the news was shared.

The government also said that people and cars would not be able to move around freely during the election on Saturday.

Gov. Prince Dapo Abiodun approved the work-free day so that civil workers could fully participate in the upcoming local government elections, which are set to happen across the state’s 20 local governments and 237 wards on November 16, 2024.

“The work-free day is meant to encourage people to get involved in the election process by letting them do their civic duties without any problems.”

“This action shows that Governor Abiodun wants to encourage people in Ogun State to take part in democracy and community service.”

“This decision is in line with Governor Abiodun’s efforts to put the well-being and participation of citizens in democratic processes first.”

Permanent secretaries and heads of government agencies were told to make sure that the order was followed.

It was also said that the Ogun State Local Government Election would happen on November 16, 2024. Between 8 am and 5 pm, it will be harder for people and cars to move around. Please plan your route and let your family, friends, and loved ones know about it.

The Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission is in charge of the local government election. Chairpersons for the 20 local government areas and councillors for the 236 wards will be chosen.
