MAD OOH: Couples Told To Have S*x With Mask On By UK Government As A Means To Combat COVID-19

Recall that the Uk gave a rule not to have sex with someone you don’t live with as it has become illegal thanks to coronavirus. But if anything changes on the legal side, or you just can’t resist the urge, couples have been advised to wear a mask to prevent the spread of disease.

Scientists at Harvard University warned that sex could be a means of catching coronavirus, and recommended some ways to reduce the risk. In a study, they said that as well as wearing a mask, people could avoid kissing, shower before and after, and clean the space well with soap and alcohol wipes.

They also said people should avoid sexual practices involving the risk of fecal-oral transmission or involving semen and urine. Researchers said that to avoid the risk completely, people could be abstinent, though they recognized that this is ‘not feasible for many’. They could be risking getting coronavirus.

In the study, published in the Annals of Internal Medicine, scientists led by Dr. Jack Turban said: ‘For some patients, complete abstinence from in-person sexual activity is not an achievable goal. ‘In these situations, having sex with persons with whom they are self-quarantining is the safest approach. ‘Those unable to take this approach may benefit from risk reduction counseling, which has proven effective in other realms of sexual health. ‘Patients should also be provided with information about how to reduce the risk for other sexually transmitted infections as well as the importance of continued use of contraceptives during this time to prevent unwanted pregnancy.’

However, mask or not it still remains illegal to invite someone else round to your house if you’re going to be indoors. New government regulation reads: ‘No person may participate in a gathering which takes place in a public or private place indoors, and consists of two or more persons.’ Until yesterday, the person who went inside another person’s home would have been the one breaching the rules. However, now both people could be prosecuted under the new amendment to the Health Protection (Coronavirus, Restrictions) Regulations 2020 bill.

Previous rules did not include wording about meeting in private places as the general message was to ‘stay at home’ and to avoid all but essential travel. Now only those with ‘reasonable excuses’ will be allowed to meet privately indoors – which does not include meeting up to have sex.
